Local Woman Publishes Two Books of Poetry

LISA WOOD

You have seen her poems featured here in The Monticello News, and now she is a published author of poetry books and is what we like to call a “hometown girl,” from right here in Shady Dale.

Lisa Mischelle Wood grew up in Shady Dale and I got to know her from a young age when we both attended Providence Baptist Church. She was always very quiet and shy but sweet as could be when she finally had something to say.

I’ve read her poems that we’ve printed and think that she is true to who she is as a Christian and portrays her thoughts through her writing. She uses life experiences and her views of the Lord to communicate inspiration and encouragement to others.

Miss Wood recently became a published author. She has released two different versions of her poems in books, one with full color photography and one with just the poems that she’s written.

Both versions are available at www.amazon.com or you can contact Lisa at angelmary427@hotmail.com or by calling 706-816-9714. Her mailing address is P.O. Box 95, Shady Dale, GA 31085.

I’ve learned a little more about lately, and according to her personal biography, she grew up with “few friends and hardly no self-confidence.” Lisa used her words in the form of writing to express her feelings. According to Lisa, “the Lord guided me to write it [how she was feeling] down. And as I wrote that very first poem, I wrote it from the deepest part of my soul. It was therapy for me.

“Over the years I started trying to use those words from my own experiences, hardships, and pain in an effort to help other people by bringing them closer to God, easing their own pain or anxiety, hopefully providing some comfort to someone.”

Today Lisa uses her poetry as a way to serve the Lord and to express feelings on paper which is not often easy. Using her “innermost feelings, thoughts, and experiences,” she has published a book that will put all of that out there for public view. She feels that she has written for a purpose and that this was God’s calling for her.
