Summer
Summer officially begins tomorrow. Fruits are ripening. My husband brought in the bounty of our two blueberry bushes, six berries.
Never fear, the raspberries are plentiful this year.
Each evening, the wood frogs croak back and forth at each other as the mosquitoes buzz circling for a hit.
The smell of the very large gardenia blooms this year waft through the evening air combining with the subtle sweetness of the Carolina jasmine.
Wildflowers dot the roadsides around Jasper County now, be on the lookout for alluim cernuum (nodding wild onions) or the ever popular, heliopsis helianthoides, what a mouthful, better known as the ox-eye sunflower. Anyway, there are a lot of yellow, white and purple wildflowers blooming.
Have a fun and safe summer, could be a hot one, as this spring has seen temperatures over 90 already.
