Betsy Jordan
Betsy Lee Jordan, 83, of Shady Dale died June 18, 2013.
Mrs. Jordan was born December 11, 1929, to the late Henry Robinson and Dinkie Gaither Robinson in Shady Dale.
She was the second oldest of eight children. Mrs. Jordan was educated in the Jasper County school system. She joined Shady Grove Baptist Church at an early age and accepted Christ as her personal saviour.
Mrs. Jordan was married to Jessie Jordan, Sr., who preceded her in death. To this union, three children were born.
One son, Harvey “Blue” Jordan preceded her in death, along with three sisters, Vera Goolsby, Annie L. Cassidy and Alive Bolden; and one brother, Charlie Coy Robinson preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Lee Jordan of Jenkinsburg, and Jessie Jordan, Jr. of Monticello; six grandchildren, Jerry Jordan of Monticello, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jordan of Conyers, Chakeeta Scott of Hampton, Jacquita Jordan of Jenkinsburg, Teressa Jordan of Monticello, and Harvey Jordan, Jr. of Irwinton; two sisters, Mattie P. Gaines of Macon and Millie E. Perry of Covington; a brother and sister-in-law, Roy A. and Eva Robinson of Atlanta, and a host extended family and friends.
Pallbearers were grandsons and friends of Mrs. Jordan and flower ladies were Mrs. Jordan’s granddaughters and friends.
A service was held Saturday, June 22 at Concord Primitive Baptist Church in Monticello. Elder H.G. Terry officiated. Interment was held in the Concord Church Cemetery.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Monticello was in charge of arrangements.
