Joe Everett Coffield, Jr.
Joe Everett Coffield, Jr., 61, of Snellville, died Monday, June 24, 2013, after an accident on Lake Powell, Utah.
Mr. Coffield was born in Atlanta, to the late Joe Everett Coffield, Sr. and Martha Bullard Coffield. He received his degree from Mercer University in Atlanta. He served in the Air National Guard during the Vietnam Conflict and repaired military planes at Dobbins Air Force Base.
Mr. Coffield moved to Snellville over 40 years ago and was an operation technician for Cox Communications. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, an Eagle Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America, and he loved to fly planes.
Survivors include his loving wife of 15 years, Brenda Joyce Coffield of Snellville; brother Floyd Stewart Coffield of Atlanta; and numerous other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church, 516 Railroad Street, Shady Dale, GA 31085. Interment will be held in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Ed Westbrook will officiate.
Pallbearers include Ty Schmitt, Justin Wyatt, Mike Vlass, Larry Rhector, Rhett Bullard and Will Bullard.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 3, from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home, 264 Hillsboro Street, Monticello.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Carissa Wilmot, Hamilton State Bank, P.O. Box 31, Monticello, GA 31064.
