Highway Safety Check Nets Drugs, Fugitives

Last Friday, July 19, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) hosted the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) monthly meeting.
Jasper County is in the Central Region of the Traffic Enforcement Network, which is composed of Rockdale, Newton, Green, Baldwin, Jones, Morgan, Walton and Putnam Counties, with 25 agencies within these nine counties.
Last Friday, there were 38 uniformed officers and deputies from various agencies within these counties who conducted sobriety and license checkpoints at three locations within Jasper County.
During these checkpoints citations were issued for seat belt and child restraint violations, suspended license, driving under the influence and other violations. Also, four drug possession arrests were made and four fugitives were apprehended.

According to their web site information, the goal of the GOHS is to reduce the number of injuries by providing highway safety data and fact-based analysis to assist communities and safety associations in implementing effective programs that will change high-risk driving behavior and increase safety on streets and highways helping to reduce the number of traffic fatalities and incidents caused by impaired driving, speeding and driving without a properly buckled seat belt.
Also, during the past week the JCSO provided the following crime related incidents. Anyone with information on these or any other criminal activity are encouraged to call the JCSO at 706-468-4912:
• On July 18 a resident on Friendship Lane in Shady Dale reported the theft of Suzuki automobile.
• On July 16 a resident on Meadowlark Road reported the theft of a Goodyear air compressor.
• On July 16 a resident on Johnny Fears Road in Shady Dale reported the theft of an air conditioner and a heat pump.
In addition, during the period of July 16-23 the JCSO reported the following arrests:
• Felicia Marie George, 26, Covington—probation violation.
• Travis Deandre Farley, 27, Monticello—probation violation.
• Oliver Northous Jackson, 25, Monticello—probation violation.
• Stephanie Elaine Miranda, 28, Monticello—probation violation.
•Ramiro Rojas Aguilar, 35, Mansfield—driving while unlicensed or expired license.
•Shanika Mechalle Hall, 26, Buffalo, KY—possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
•James Edward Tumlin, 23, Covington—possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
•Tammy Marie Dabbs , 49, Covington—hold for warrant in Bartow County.
•Gregory Scott Phillips, 31, Mansfield—open container of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol.
•Christopher Dale Irwin, 28, Monticello—criminal trespass.
•David Luke Maughon, 21, Mansfield—possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (two counts).
•Jackie Whitten Reagin, 30, Monticello—possession of Schedule II controlled substance, possession of meth with intent to distribute, driving unlicensed and possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
•Wayne Ellis Mask, 35, Covington: possession of Schedule II controlled substance, possession of meth with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
•Billy Wayne Lackey, 39, Mansfield-hold for warrant in Newton County.
•Jeffrey Olice Lake, 30, Monticello—simple battery, cruelty to children in the third degree and interfering with 911 call.
•Jeffrey Olice Lake, 30, Monticello—criminal trespass and aggravated assault.
(Mr. Lake bonded out of jail, and returned later that day on the new charges.)
•Margaret Rebecca Cronan, 47, Monticello—aggravated assault.
•William Harold Spradling, 43, Monticello—battery.
During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 185 calls for service including 61 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 19 subject needs officer, 13 alarm, seven each trouble unknown and road hazard, five each discharge fire arms, checking location and attempt to serve warrant, four each courtesy ride, escort or convoy and vandalism of property, three each accident, mechanical breakdown, juvenile complaint, music/noise complaint and argument,
Also, two each dog disturbance, domestic, assist motorist, theft by taking, pick up prisoner/subject, wanted/stolen indicated, welfare check, four wheeler, child custody case, dead on arrival, shooting, persons refuse to leave, vgcsa, license check/roadblock and identity fraud/theft, one each livestock on road, intoxicated driver, overdose, threatening/harassing calls, abandoned vehicle and 911 hang up.
Also during this period the Monticello Police Department reported the following arrests:
•Earnest Corbett, III, Monticello—aggravated sodomy.
•Lonnie Charles Miller, 60, Monticello—giving false name or address to law enforcement officer, license violation and disregarding railroad crossing barrier.
•Dejwan Markeith Andrews, 26, Monticello—public drunkenness.
•Emanuel Santrell Jefferies, 33, Monticello—hold for warrant in DeKalb County.
•Cecilio Lugo Castillo, 33, Monticello—driving without a license.
•Maria Ramirez Sanchez, 32, Monticello—driving without a license.
Furthermore, during this period the Georgia State Patrol reported the arrest of Dewayne Lashawn Carter, 28, of Monticello, charging him with driving while unlicensed and hold for warrant in Newton Co.
