Little Crime Is Reported during Week

Following the activities of the nine-county concentration of law enforcement agencies in Jasper County during the week ending July 25, as reported in The News, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) reported no serious criminal incidents for this past week.

However, they did report the following arrests for the period of July 23-30:

•Jarvis Lamar Carter, 22, Monticello—probation violation.

•Kenneth James Harp, 22, Monticello—probation violation.

•Demarcus Dewayne Lynwood, 25, Eatonton—probation violation.

•Marvis Armel Wyman, 32, Monticello—probation violation.

•Linda Joann Wilson, 46, Hillsboro—battery.

•David Spencer Pickett, 19, Monticello—probation violation.

•Jeffery Scott Cantrell, 42, Mansfield—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, registration/license violation and driving with no insurance.

•Tammy Michelle Neal, 45, Monticello—disorderly conduct.

•April Elizabeth Watkins, 30, Eatonton—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and speeding.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 190 calls for service including 106 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 10 subject needs officer, six each accident, mechanical break down, checking location and attempt to serve warrant, five alarm, four each extra patrol and vandalism of property, three each assist motorist and argument.

Also, two each fight, prowler report, domestic, speeding auto, courtesy ride, welfare check, juvenile complaint, trouble unknown, music/noise complaint, threatening/harassing calls and road hazard, on each escort or convoy, theft by taking, pick up prisoner/subject, child abuse/molestation, rape, missing person, four wheeler, private property and trespassing.

Also, during this same period the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:

•Catherine Thurmond, 52, Monticello—pedestrian under the influence of alcohol or drugs and obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers.

•Jaylin Thurman, 19, Monticello—criminal damage to property in the second degree.

During this same period officers with the MPD responded to 51 calls for service including 15 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, six alarm, five escort or convoy, two each domestic, theft by taking, extra patrol, trouble unknown, music/noise complaint and argument, one each burglary, assist motorist, speeding auto, accident, unconscious, miscellaneous ems, subject needs officer, discharge firearms, private property, indecent exposure, checking location, persons refuse to leave and attempt to serve warrant.

In addition, during the period referenced above the Georgia State Patrol reported the arrest of Monica Marie Lashley, 38, of Covington, and charged her with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
