Varsity ‘Canes Prepare for Scrimmage
In preparation for the 2013 football season the Canes will attempt to tune up their offense and defense today, August 15, in a scrimmage game versus East Jackson High School scheduled for kick-off at 7 p.m. at Rose Bowl Field.
The team will field 38 players including seniors Tra Jackson, Tremaine Farley, Trevor Lynwood, Joseph Caldwell and Justin Mitchem, juniors Walt McMichael, Quincy Standifer, Diquan Johnson, Lane Thomas, Garrison Williams and Xavier Gude.
Sophomores include Jordan Stewart, Jordan Stone, Jacob Cavender, Tristin McCollough, Matthew Hollis, Austin McCollough, Thomas Deraney, Julius Matchett, Jonathon Sims, John Davis, Ady Dahod, Nick Harris, Chris Anglin, Tyler Seawright, Jamari Myrick, Jamaric Bonner, Brice Crawford, Justin Smith, Chad Cain and Cain Gonzalez.
The six freshmen on the team include Jay Johnson, Matthew Lawson, Colton Clay, Andrew Lee, Glendon Graybill and Cameron Gentry.

Brandi McMichael and Regan Duke will serve as water girls, Zack Norris as trainer and David Artessa as team chaplain.
The team is coached by Head Coach Eddie Roberts. Assistant coaches include Buddy Cain, Riddell Jackson, Matt Riden, Aubrey Fortson, Zack Lively, John Grabill, Gary Cooper and Kenny Moore.
The team will continue playing in Region 4-AA and the regular season is scheduled to get underway on Friday, August 30 at home versus non-region foe Morgan County (8-AAA).
