I’m Fixing to Get a Little Help from My Guardian Angel

I’m fixing to get a little help from my Guardian Angel.

They say the only way an angel can transform into a human is by losing its wings, and evidently that’s what some angels want to do, otherwise we would never have heard of fallen angels, usually due to their having fallen in love with a human while on some celestial mission.

On the other hand, I don’t think I have ever heard of a human who became an angel, even though I have heard some referred to as angels because of some sweet or sacrificial thing they did. Even if a human wanted to become an angel I just don’t think it’s possible because how do you grow wings?

I’ve never met an angel, but I have known some of those kind and generous humans referred to as one.  However, it does seem that humans and angels have in common that whatever they are, they want to be what they’re not.

Sometimes I wonder if angels refer to each other as being a human due some miraculous feat they accomplished?  I doubt it.

From my biblical and literary research (reading), I have determined that humans and angels are separate beings, both created by the Almighty, but one can’t be the other and the other can’t be the one because

He created them for their own function in creation.  But don’t take my word for that.  There are plenty of folks that know more than I do about angels, and humans, too.

But still, it seems to me that humans and angels share certain traits.  We have all heard of evil angels, as well as guardian angels, just like we have all heard of bad humans as well as good ones.

The distinction I see between humans and angels is that we humans can see, hear and relate to the actions of each other, whereas we can’t see or hear the activity of angels.  We can only relate to the actions we suppose they do, while they seem to see and hear everything about us.

Like when we get caught at a traffic light, where if we had been two seconds earlier we could have gone through the green light, only to find out later that if we had we would have been involved in a fiery crash.  That’s when we know our guardian angel could see us and was looking out for our welfare.

I imagine that angels long for the worldly relationships that humans enjoy—mother and father, brother and sister, husband and wife, sons, daughters and all human bonds.

I also imagine that humans long for the closer relationship that angels have with the Deity, and their supposed ability to roam the universe oblivious to the bonds of time and space.

Maybe the answer is somewhere in between, to submit to the order of service which the Creator has bestowed upon each, whether it be human or angel, and just be the best you can at what you are.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an angel, and wouldn’t know a good one from an evil one if I did.  However, I believe I can distinguish which of these categories some humans fall into.

In fact, I can actually name a few evil people, and intended to actually do so, but thank goodness my Guardian Angel saw to it that my pen was fixing to run out of ink.
