Birthday Lunch
This past Sunday, the “Sousins”, that is Southern for Cousins who are as close as Sisters, got together for a multiple birthday lunch.
Growing up, we saw each other on holidays, at weddings and funerals, and weekend visits.
Somehow all our paths led us to live in the Atlanta area.
When you get a group of people together, you have to consider that everyone does not have your taste buds. Luckily some restaurants cater to everyone and that’s where we went this past Sunday.
Even at 1:30 p.m. the place was still busy, lots of noise. Next to us though was an older couple who sat in complete silence, after so any years they had nothing left to say, I guess. But in their silence we also heard a rowdy young one over a couple tables.
Rowdy young ‘uns can usually be occupied with a cracker or toy, but not this one. She had a fine set of lungs. And just when we commented on her loudness, we all noticed that she was really singing. Undoubtedly her family was eating out after church. We couldn’t really pick out the song, but it sounded like her version of “Just As I Am”.
We all laughed and enjoyed her performance. Who knows she might be a future famous singer and we just had attended her first public performance.
