Competition Cheerleading Season Begins

The Monticello Hurricane competition cheerleading squads kick off their season this Saturday, Sept. 21, with both the middle school and varsity competing at Alcovy High School in neighboring Newton County.

Both squads will compete again on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Putnam County High School in Eatonton.

The following week, Oct. 19, the varsity is scheduled to compete at Loganville High School, but the middle school has that Saturday off, according to information provided to The Monticello News.

On Saturday, Oct. 26, both squads compete again, this time at Winder-Brrow High School. Lindsay Riden, lriden@jasper.k12.ga.us, is the varsity competition coach, and Dusty Cawthon, dcawthon@jasper.k12.ga.us, is middle school coach.

Check with them for the best time to attend to be able to see our young ladies cheer. Competitions generally feature many schools, and are fast-paced. The coaches can advice the best time to arrive to get a seat and see the contest.
