JV Lady Cougars Excel in Cross Country
Alina Jablonski continued her standout season for the Piedmont Academy junior varsity girls cross country team finishing in fourth place in 13:37 in Dublin last week.
Overall the JV Lady Cougars were third. Coach Traci Brady said the team members had to run a 1.8-mile course. Three of the team’s runners finished in the top 10 to receive medals.
“This group of girls is getting more and more competitive at each meet,” Brady said. “We were only 13 points off the second place team. There were 45 JV girls competing.”
Also receiving medals for Piedmont were Mari Jablonski (seventh place, 14:170 and Emily Mills (10th place, 14:35).
Gracie Black (18:25) and Anne Marie Hildrebrant (20:02) rounded out the top finishers for the JV girls.
Garrett King led the JV boys in 15:12 followed by Chase Tweedell in 15:15.
“Garrett and Chase continue to improve as well,” Brady said.
Emmie Kelly led the Piedmont varsity girls in 34:11 followed by Savannah McGinnis in 34:33. Bailyn Whitaker completed the 3.15-mile course in 35:07 followed by Bridgette Phillips in 35:07.
For the varsity boys, Mack Brady was 19th overall in 23:16 followed by Brice Dodson (27:34), Chris Coogler (27:47), Michael Edwards (29:50) and Andrew Mitchell (33:41).
The Piedmont runners were scheduled to compete at Brentwood Wednesday.
“We are hoping to improve our varsity boys’ and girls’ times so we can be more competitive as a team,” Brady said.
