Monday Is Deadline To Register To Vote

Next Monday, Oct. 7, is the deadline for voters in the city of Monticello to register to vote and be eligible to vote in the November 5 election, to determine who will serve on the council for the next four years.

David Wease is challenging two-year incumbent Randy Strozier in District 2. That is the only contested race in the upcoming election.

Whoever wins, Mr. Wease or Mr. Strozier, will serve District 2, as does Councilwoman Katherine Alexander.

District 1 Councilman Larry Thurman is unopposed, and Cornell Williams has two more years on his term.

Mayor Bryan Standifer is also unopposed seeking re-election, and Mayor Pro-tem Bobby Jacobs has two years left on his term.
