Superior Court Has Busy Day
The Jasper Superior Court Arraignment Calendar was called Tuesday, Oct. 1, with Judge Hulane E. George, presiding.
Of the 45 cases on the calendar, the following six individuals pled guilty to charges as indicated and were sentenced as shown below:
Billy Wayne Gafford to public indecency—sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation, fines and fees of $460 and $49 per month probation fees.
Whitney Shardea Barron to theft by deception—sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation, fines and fees of $410 and $49 per month probation fees.
Sadarion Marquaylious Thurman to theft by deception—sentenced to 12 months probation, fines and fees of $680 and $49 per month probation fees.
Senior Lynwood, Jr., to theft by shoplifting—sentenced to 12 months to be served on probation, fines and fees of $325 and $49 per month probation fees.
Timothy Dewayne Rogers to criminal damage to property in the second degree and cruelty to children in the third degree—sentenced to five years to be served on probation, fines and fees of $1,405 and $32 per month probation fees.
Brandon Wayne Herndon to possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of schedule IV controlled substance, possession of marijuana less than one ounce and interference with government property—sentenced to five years to be served on probation, fines and fees of $1,905 and $32 per month probation fees.
Alicia Marie Cates to possession of methamphetamine—sentenced to four years to be served on probation, fines and fees of $1,905 and $32 per month probation fees.

Other actions taken by the Court include the following:
Accepted a not-guilty plea on various charges from 25 individuals who will be scheduled for a trial unless a plea bargain is struck prior to such time.
Issued a Bench Warrant for the arrest of six individuals who failed to appear to answer charges, including Ricky Sharod Cooper, Teresa Schwartz, Michael Eugene Couch, Dana Elliott Neill, Robert Allen Robinson and Armando Cornelio.
Granted a $5,000 bond to Keifer Wayne Wood being held on the charge of entering an automobile.
Granted a bond of $20,000 to Clayton Elisha Besley being held on the charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
Granted the Waiver of Extradition to Bradley Clark to be returned to the state of Kentucky to answer the charge of receiving stolen property.
Continued five cases.
Judge George also presided over the Motion Day Calendar where she heard 10 civil cases, and over the Probation Revocation Calendar where the following actions were taken:
Allen Humphries, who was on probation for the charge of theft by taking in November of 2011, was found to have violated his probation via the new charge of possession of marijuana less than one ounce. Mr. Humphries was ordered to be released from the county jail with credit for time served, to complete 40 hours of community service and get a drug evaluation while remaining on active probation supervision.
Marilyn Armstrong, who was on probation for the charge of concealing a sex offender in August of 2013, was found to have violated her probation via the new charges of possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.
Ms. Armstrong was sentenced to serve 60 days in the county jail with credit for time served and upon release to enroll and complete an outpatient drug treatment program while remaining on active probation supervision.
Robert Chandler, who was on probation for the charge of possession of cocaine in August of 2010, was found to have violated his probation via the new charges of failure to report and giving false name.
Mr. Chandler was sentenced to serve 90 days in the county jail suspended upon entry into a state detention center for 60-90 days and upon release be returned to active probation supervision.
Kerry Britt Treadwell, who was on probation for the charge of false imprisonment in February of 2004, was found to have violated his probation via the new charges of failure to complete treatment and driving under the influence.
Mr. Treadwell was sentenced to 90 days in the county jail suspended upon entry into a state detention center with an end date of February 2, 2014.
