What Children Say
“Oh, you know kids, they just say whatever,” according to the red-faced mother of the child who had just blurted out some family gossip. Yep, we know the feeling.
Recently, the grandchild of a friend told me that his grandmother had fake teeth. The grandmother and I were talking to each other at the time.
If there is anything you don’t want repeated, don’t say it within earshot of a child with super-hearing. Nine times out of 10 you will hear your exact words coming out of that child’s mouth at just the wrong time. The super-hearing child is capable of hearing everything except when there is some kind of request to do any chores.
In the meantime, you may use the over-used Southern phrase, “I would rather bite off my own tongue than to say anything bad, BUT…”
