Christmas on the Big Screen Concert Set

The Monticello Community Band will celebrate “Christmas on the Big Screen” this Saturday, Dec. 7, with a concert featuring music from popular Christmas movies and television specials.

The concert starts at 7 p.m. in the Jasper County Courthouse main courtroom on the Square.

The Monticello Community Band will play pieces from The Polar Express, Home Alone, Charlie Brown, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and many other holiday favorites.

Limited discount tickets ($5/person and $15/family) may be obtained at the Snap’n Turtle and the Chamber of Commerce by Saturday, Dec. 7 at noon. Tickets at the door are $10 a person.

Last year, “A Victorian Christmas” concert was full to capacity and this year seats will be added in the balcony.

The community is asked to come out and support local and regional musicians Mary Camp, Regis Marie Stamey, Amber Payne, Faith Vaughn and Christy Bailey on flute, Kim Savage, Katrina Walker, Sierra Whitt, David Haisten, Linda Jordan and Ashley Devane on clarinet, Ralph Hickman on saxophone, Johnny Smith, Sarah Grantham and Erin Buck on baritone, and Les Steele on bass clarinet.

Also, Chris Savage, Matt Jernigan, Sandra Shockley, Clay Evans, Austin Norwood, Lindsey Lundin and Jimmy Jordan on trumpet, Greg Holder, Taylor Edwards, Bob Trouteaud, Jasmine El-Jourbagy and Ray Buck on trombone, Suzy Mitchell, William Matthews, and Sandra Daniel on horn, Eldon Lundin and Mark Thomas on tuba, Matthew Benton, Tyson Harty, Levi Ford, Tristan Armstrong, James Sampson, and Cameron Whitener on percussion and Jehan El-Jourbagy conducting.
