Do you have a business? Do you advertise in The Monticello News? I wish you would.
For those who don’t know, I purchased the old Tillman House and am remodeling in preparation of moving The News office over there. Naturally, I have referred to the Ready Reference and other ads in my newspaper for experts to do the remodeling work.
Do you know there are four HVAC services that advertise in The Monticello News regularly. There is one electrician and one plumber. I could go on and on.
My daughter had some electrical work done recently. It was an emergency and she needed someone now, so she remembered ads she had seen in The Monticello News, or looked in the paper that week, and called Bluebird Electric. They responded quickly and took care of the problem.
I’ve since heard from others, why didn’t she call so and so. Hey, I only know what I know. The ad is in the paper. That means they’re in business and want work. Sometimes there’s not time to talk to several different providers, and sometimes it’s hard to track down providers.
Regardless, she is pleased with the work, and was glad to find the company in The Monticello News. If there are other local electricians, I am not familiar with them. Adornato Electric advertised in The Monticello News for probably 30 years; I can still see his lightning bolt logo. But Larry’s retired now. I think the county might be lacking for electricians. I’m glad I know a good one.
I remember many years ago I did some remodeling in the current office. I called half a dozen people. Some never showed up. Some came and never got back to me. One even took measurements and seemed very interested then never responded.
Now that I am in the process of remodeling, and doing it basically myself, I have to find the contractors. I have to find the experts. And, so I look in the newspaper. And, I know lots of other people that do also. So, if you need business, there may be someone out there needing you and they just don’t know you. Call or come by, we’ll get the word out.
And, since everyone keeps asking…I don’t know when we’re going to move. I know I have of decisions to make in the coming weeks.
I planned to write this column about the move…but I got sidetracked. I’ll start at the beginning next week, since I jumped right in the middle this week. And, in the meantime, maybe I’ll find some more service people.
