Happy Father’s Day

You may call him father, dad, daddy, or pop. In the eyes of the world he is just a man, but to you he is the tallest, the strongest, and someone that will try to send you down the right road even when you pull in the opposite direction. Some of us just have our memories of him.

Fathers are the ultimate decider when the tug-of-war starts between “Go talk to your mother” who then says in turn, “Go talk to your father.”

Dads are usually the ones who lift you up the first time you take to the wheels, be it a big wheel tricycle or as you graduate to the two wheeler without the training wheels. Dads are usually the ones who bravely sit in the passenger seat, the first time you turn the ignition of an automobile.

If you ever notice, stores still sell handkerchiefs in the men’s section. Every man especially a dad should have one on him at all times. So many men don’t practice the habit anymore.

The uses for that handkerchief are endless at least for the kids sake, wiping tears of joy, sadness, hurt feelings, as a bandage on an elbow or knee, soaked in cool water it cools the brow or the back of the neck in the sun, the uses go on and on.

Buying a Father’s Day gift for this coming Sunday is pretty simple, he gets excited at just about anything even a package of handkerchiefs. Just make it a special day for him, after all, it was a very special day when you made him a father.

Who ever said this quote, and plenty are attributed to it, said a mouthful, “No man stands so tall as when he stoops to help a child.”
