September 11
Last September while visiting the 9/11 memorial fountains on the sight of the destroyed World Trade Centers, we placed our hands on the cold marble where thousands of names are engraved and realized no man can build a fountain or building that will fill the hole left in the heart of the United States citizens.
Currently, I am taking American History II (1866 to present) at Georgia Perimeter College. A lot of our history has been forgotten except in the pages of history books. Our professor repeatedly says, we should have learned from our history.
Most of the students were four and five years old, 13 years ago on our 9/11 and have only heard or read about it.
As soon as the dust settled that fall day in 2001, we stood up, dusted ourselves off and knew the United States light of freedom had flicked momentarily.
Words that inspired our nation in the past, “The only thing to fear is fear itself” came off the pages of our history books to inspire us again.
May this day never be forgotten by “We the people” and to know that “To whom much is given, from him much is expected.”
