Youth Participate in Gifted Internship
Jasper County High School (JCHS) students in Tyson Harty’s gifted internship class are learning about professional careers while serving the Jasper County community at the same time.
The class meets every day, and students are expected to research their field of interest, take part in interviews and then learn a profession under a mentor. They will also engage in a capstone project, requiring them to share the information they learned while “on the job.”
In the coming 12 weeks, each student will be featured along with his or her internship mentor.
Participating students include sophomore Savannah Fritz; juniors Stephen Arena, Aleisa Caldwell, Tamija Digby, Emily Richardson, and Brandon Stewart, and seniors Tristan Armstrong, Daniel Benton, Daniel Darity, Kellie Evans, Cori Griggs and Emmi Wade.
Internship mentors include Robert Jordan, Jordan Engineering; Tina Daniels, Jasper County Schools Counseling Department; Adam McGinnis, Southern Edge Realty; Shannon Barton, Venture Medical Associates; Dan Jordan and Angie Steele, Jasper County Courthouse; and Donnie Pope, Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
Also, Stevie Dietzel, DVM, Countryside Veterinary Clinic; Kathy Mudd, The Monticello News; Peyton Proctor and Jehan El-Jourbagy, Jasper County Schools Art and Public Relations; Dan Kelley and Mason Jones, Jasper County Schools Technology; and Elizabeth Proctor, Jasper County High School BioTech.
