Camera Ready
Camera Ready – Movie Industry Dollars Spent In Jasper County…
Are you camera ready…? The Camera Ready program began back in 2010 with 17 communities in Georgia designated as “Camera Ready.”
Today, every county in the state of Georgia has that designation. Did you know over five billion, yes billion, dollars were generated in Georgia from the film industry last year?
Just this week, the TV Series The Originals filmed in our county. They rented the property they used, ate in our restaurants, purchased gas, shopped in our local stores, and they paid one of our local farmers to mow a large field. That’s movie industry dollars (tourism dollars) at their best..!
The money spent doesn’t stop there because it is a “full circle” industry. First the movie scouts visit our county, then the director or producer will visit, next the arrangements are made and filming begins, then the actors and stand-ins (many are local).
When the movie or tv series is released then the tourists come to see where it was filmed. Everyone who is involved has the opportunity to spend money in our city and county.
Would you like to be “Camera Ready?” The Chamber of Commerce is updating the files for Jasper county’s camera ready opportunities.
If you would like to have your property submitted for consideration, please email your photos to jasperchamber@bellsouth.net or bring them to the Chamber of Commerce office located in the Visitors’ Center.
