Student, Teacher of the Month

The Monticello Kiwanis Club each month recognizes an outstanding member of the senior class at Jasper County High School.

This week, Quinton Standifer was honored. Each student has to select a teacher who he says led him best to be an outstanding student. Mr. Standifer chose his business teacher and Future Business leaders of America adviser Amy Scroggs. Mrs. Scroggs was unable to attend the luncheon so the photo of the pair was made at school.

Mrs. Scroggs said of her student: “Every once in a while, a teacher gets a student that is the ‘ideal’ student! One of those students came along four years ago for Amy Scroggs! It was Quinton Standifer! Through the last three years, Quinton showed his love for business, learning, and FBLA through his almost 100 averages in four business classes, his almost perfect speeches, and his ninth placed win at the national FBLA conference in emerging business issues!

“He is just one of those students that teaches and other students love. I have so enjoyed watching him grow up into the fine young man he is today. He has strong Christian morals and principles and an amazing work ethic! His potential is limitless and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for him in the future,” said Mrs. Scroggs.

Since she was unable to attend she sent her remarks about her student by text to principal Robyn Mullis who was at the meeting and recognized Mr. Standifer.

Mr. Standifer writes football stories for The Monticello News, and is a member of the basketball team. He plans to attend either Ga. Southern or Kennesaw State University. Mr. Standifer’s parents Mayor and Mrs. Bryan Standifer attended the luncheon with their son.
