Christmas and Moving

Well, it’s done…sort of. We are getting the paper out this week in our new office—247 West Washington Street, the old Tillman House Restaurant.

The restaurant doesn’t look the same, at all, and neither do the new computer programs that are driving us crazy. We have moved the essential…there’s still a lot to move, and a lot to get rid of.

Hopefully the paper will not look much different to our readers…though there have been a few glitches.

At this writing, the old office is a complete mess, and the new office is still pretty neat. But there’s a lot that must be moved. We don’t want to move the old (ugly) metal file cabinets, but we may have to bring one or two. We’re trying to stick with all wood.

And, I, for one, did not clean out enough paper before we moved, and the great moving crew just brought it all over.

However, there are boxes and bins next door that must be gone through…including a big bin and a box from my Daddy’s house. He’s been gone three years now, and the stuff I brought from his house to go through “later” is still at the old news office. I refuse to move it all again. I will go through it.

The new owner of my building, my landlord at the old office, was kind enough to grant me an extra weekend, and I am determined to clear some clutter rather than just move it. Wish me luck! But in the meantime, we’ll celebrate a very special holiday—Christmas, and I will not be working Christmas eve past noon or Christmas day.

I wish all our readers, advertisers and friends a very merry Christmas, and the happiest of new years.
