Tax Season

Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer and the least favorite season of the year, Tax Season, which runs from January 20th to April 15th is upon us.

And to celebrate this happy time of the year, all the companies that prepare taxes are filling the airwaves with their touts of easy and free tax filing. Free, how’s dat?

Since 1913 when federal income tax collections began, taxpayers have been dreaming of a refund along with loopholes and deductions. Speaking of deductions as some expert once said, no child is so bad that he/she can’t be used as an income tax deduction.

After 1990 when children were required to have social security numbers, the population of the United States was reduced by seven million and believe it or not, there was no massive hunt for these seven million missing children.

In 2001, EGTRRA was passed. EGTRRA is the acronym for Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act which can only be described as an act to provide for reconciliation pursuant to section 104 of the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2002. Whew! that’s a mouthful. Hey, where’s my refund?

So get out your calculator, sharpen some pencils and get ready to celebrate Tax Giving 2015!
