Travel Bug

Every once in a while do you sneak a peek at your horoscope?

Most of the time, it is food for thought. Today for us Sagittarius, who are known to have itchy feet when it comes to travel, the horoscope was, “Even the strongest bug spray can’t kill off your travel bug.” How true!

Travel is one of the greatest rewards in my life. Growing up in a small town that had hundreds of military families who had traveled the world together, only whetted my appetite to see that world.

The winter months are a perfect time to read travel magazines filled with probably unattainable trips, but still dreams sometime do come true. Our library has several monthly travel magazines available to peruse. Of course, the internet is an overwhelming source.

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine that I would be able to roam around in a Shanghai, China flea market, shop for shoes and souvenirs in Casablanca, Morocco, walk the streets of Pompeii, or grab a hang strap on a Manhattan subway. Some of us are never satisfied to merely be an arm chair traveler.

Some folks express their desire to travel, but preference it by also expressing their fear of the dangers and the unknowns, and they are just talking about Atlanta. If you wait until the world is safe, you will never leave home.

200 years ago, newly arrived immigrants to the new United States were dreaming as they pushed their way West, some families set up housekeeping in what was to become Jasper County.

Sweet dreams…
