Road Trip Across America Concert Set
The Monticello Community Band will present “Road Trip Across America,” on Friday, April 24, a concert with musical stops at iconic locations and dinner catered by The Varsity.
Held at Jasper County High School on Highway 11 North, the Varsity will start asking “What’ll you have?” at 6 p.m., and the concert will start at 7 p.m. and feature music and well as pictures from classic road trip locations.
The band will also award a graduating senior with a Lifelong Music Scholarship.
Tickets are available at the Monticello – Jasper County Chamber of Commerce and The Snap’n Turtle children’s boutique in downtown Monticello.
Varsity dinner and concert combo tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance. Advance concert only tickets are $5/person and $15/family. Tickets at the door for the concert are $10/person.
“Foremost, our musicians have a great time making music together, and they enjoy sharing that joy with others,” said Jehan El-Jourbagy, the conductor of the band. “We hope even more people in the middle Georgia area come out to have fun and enjoy a lively concert that will no doubt inspire them to hit the road this summer.”
Performing local and regional musicians include Christy Bailey, Mary Camp, Amber Payne and Anna Parker on flute, Kim Savage, Katrina Walker, David Haisten, Ashley DeVane and Faith Vaughn on clarinet and Ralph Hickman on saxophone.
Also, Chris Savage, Matthew Jernigan, Clay Evans, Austin Norwood and Jimmy Jordan on trumpet, Suzy Mitchell and Laura Mitchell on horn, Greg Holder, Taylor Edwards, Jasmine Jernigan, Bob Trouteaud, Robert Cumbie and Will Robinson on trombone, Erin Buck and Joshua Payne on baritone, Ray Buck on tuba and Matthew Benton, Levi Ford and Tyson Harty on percussion.
