Six Months til Christmas

Conversations around these parts this time of year usually includes the word, Hot. This year in particular Yep, it is hot this summer which officially just started this past Sunday.

Johnny and June said it right when they sang, “We got married in a fever, hotter than a pepper sprout.” If you ever had occasion to eat a pepper sprout, then you ought to know all about hot.

The Dog Days of Summer have officially started. Dogs around the county are celebrating. Our dog loves to take a leisurely sun bath every day, but lately those baths have become increasingly short.

When it’s 90 plus degrees every day, everyone including the dogs agree it’s a wee bit too hot for prolonged lounging. Cats know better as they stare out at the steaming earth from their perch and yawn and stretch.

Cool water is the key for kids and sun worshipers who love the pools and lakes around Jasper County. If you get too hot, you just take a dip in the water. Lately Jackson Lake has been shore to shore pontoons and boats most every weekend.

And if you want to escape the heat, just go shopping in one of our cool stores. ‘Cause it’s never too early to start shopping for Christmas since six months from today is Christmas.
