Chunk Light Tuna
Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Gary W. Black is alerting Georgians to the recall of certain Bumble Bee and Chicken of the Sea canned ‘Chunk Light’ tuna products, because the products may pose a health risk to consumers. Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) inspectors are actively checking retail stores and distribution warehouses to make sure the recalled products have been removed.
The recall is due to process deviations that occurred as part of the commercial sterilization process of the tuna products, which could result in contamination by spoilage organisms or pathogens. To date, there have been no reports of illness associated with these products; however, the potential for contamination could lead to life-threatening illness if the products are consumed.

Bumble Bee – Bumble Bee Foods, LLC is recalling 31,579 cases of canned Chunk Light tuna, limited to three (3) specific UPC codes with specific best-by dates. The products will be marked with a can code starting with the letter “T” (example: TOA2BSCAFB). Additional product information:

Consumers are advised to throw away any products that match the above descriptions. Recalled products should be placed in a closed plastic bag in a sealed trash can, so other people and animals cannot eat it. Consumers may show proof of purchase to the retail store it was purchased from to request a refund.
