Piedmont Graduates 11 Kinder-Cougars

Eleven “Kinder-Cougars” received their kindergarten diplomas May 17 during festivities held in the school’s gymnasium.

Wes Tanner opened the ceremony with prayer followed by Isaac Lockett and Abby Moore leading the audience with the pledge of allegiance to the flag.

The children began the program with a music and dance presentation of “The Duck Review.” Afterwards, each student individually recited their favorite nursery rhyme and the class joined together in a line dance to “When I Grow Up.”

Kindergarten teacher Julie Tucker gave a spotlight on the graduates telling the audience their favorite food, their most-liked activity at school and home, and what they would like to be when they grow up. The general consensus among the students on what to eat were carrots with ranch dressing, broccoli, and watermelon.

When they grow up, several wanted to be teachers, nurses, gymnasts, and to work at Ingles. Most importantly, their favorite part of the school day was when they could go outside and have fun on the playground.

Headmaster Tony Tanner presented the graduates with their diplomas. Graduates included Austin Anglin, Adam Brimberry, McKenna Brown, London Cobb, Helen Downs, Bella Harden, Aubrey Kitchens, Isaac Lockett, Abby Moore, Ryder Selman, and Sarah Ellen Stroud.

Teacher Julie Tucker and teaching assistant Renee’ Tillman led the ceremony with the help of usherettes MaLynne Webb and Sydney Stroud; pianist, Nancy Gunn; room mother, Lindsay Moore; class video, Morgan Johnston and Maddie Mooneyham; dance choreography, Sara Hammonds and Gracie Brittain; sound system, Sydney Stroud; and program and stage decorations, Judy Nelson.

Afterwards, a reception was held in the cafeteria for the graduates, their family, and friends.
