Merry Christmas!

Do you remember when you first sat in Santa’s lap and whispered your Christmas list to him? Did you believe? Do you still want to believe? You betcha. Wouldn’t that make your Christmas morning special?

This past Saturday, I got to be Santa’s helper and hear some of those kids lists. Most of the kids had reasonable lists, some maybe not. Here’s a list of some of their items, a blue kitten, a puppy (yes, a real puppy), a .22 rifle (his father beamed and said yes, now we can go deer hunting together, apparently Dad still believes), and a firetruck. Here is the request of one little girl who is playing it up to Santa, she asked for food for reindeer.

In the past I wrote that the first Santa for me was actually my grandfather who played one in a local department store.

My first cousin and I thought there was something familiar about him, but didn’t dare blow his cover. What if it wasn’t him after all?

Jasper County has some really generous folks that help make some kids’ Christmas special that otherwise would not get a gift. The simple giving of gifts is what it is all about, sharing and caring.

May the beauty of the season enrich your life and make this a wonderful time for you and yours.
