Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Lady redbird flew into town the other day thinking that Spring had come early to Jasper County, but she didn’t stay long and was last seen flying South.

We are pretty lucky living here though, we rarely have to say blizzard coming, get your milk, eggs and bread.

As they say, if you don’t like the weather, stick around a couple of days.

With the grass getting green, it’s time for one of our favorite times of the year when Jasper County’s favorite tree, the tall, short-leafed pine, covers us with its’ yellow pollen. You can wash your car every day and still you will be driving a yellow one. You can keep your windows tightly shut and still your furniture and window sills will be covered in the yellow stuff.

Tomorrow is our only holiday that celebrates a saint from Ireland who may or may not have been from there. St. Patrick’s Day is just a fun day when people dress up in green ‘cause everyone wants a kiss instead of a pinch.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day.
