Memorial Day

“Remember those who served before,

Remember those who are no more,

Remember those who serve today,

Remember them all on Memorial Day”.

Emily Toma

Beyond the picnics, fireworks and mattress sales on Memorial Day, most families have had a member of their family that served, is serving or who sacrificed their life for us.

So many lives are touched by our military. So put out your stars and stripes to show your support.

Regardless of your opinion, when the United States has made the call to join together to combat evil, women and men, some not out of high school go to battle.

After the Civil War, families gathered to decorate the graves of the fallen and this decoration day eventually became our Memorial Day, the last Monday of May.

Celebrate, but take time out to honor those that made our celebration possible.

Happy Memorial Day, Monticello!
