Christmastime

Time to dash off your letter to Santa before it’s too late. Children all over the county are excited about Christmas, gifts, getting a lengthy vacation and writing a letter to Santa asking about his well-being and mentioning that they have been good also.

Whoever came up with this Elf on a Shelf has made millions. This tattle-telling skinny elf who reports directly to Santa is the substitute for the idle threat of yesteryear, getting coal in your stocking if you are bad.

Dear Santa,

It’s me. Hope you are on schedule and not suffering from the cold weather although your outfit looks warm.

Around this time of the year, people, spouses, children ask what do you want for Christmas. Realistically, lose some weight, clearer eye sight, less pain, a good night’s sleep, but no one cares about that.

How about my fantasy wish list? My mother called one year and asked what I wanted for Christmas. I told her a mink coat. The telephone line went silent for a a minute or so before she changed the subject. No one wants to hear about your fantasy wish list either. Really just glad to be around another year.

This Saturday, Dec. 9, Turtle Cove will host “Lunch with Santa” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the clubhouse. Bring your family to share lunch and for the children to enjoy Santa. Don’t forget to bring your camera for a beautiful picture.
