Happy New Year!

Good bye, 2017 and Hello, 2018. What will the new year bring?

For one thing, how about the University of Georgia Bulldogs and the Oklahoma Sooners in the “Granddaddy of them All,” the Rose Bowl? It has been a long time coming for Georgia, 75 years to be exact. In 1943, the Dawgs traveled four days by train to reach California. What a trip!

With the new year, people will make new year resolutions that will probably last a week or so. Also, the experts will issue their predictions for the coming year and if any come true, miracle.

Predictions for 2018 for Monticello and Jasper County include our importance in becoming the off-ramp for all 18-wheel trucks traveling South and East of sister-city, Atlanta. Cellphones will get more powerful reception around here with 1 1/2 bars instead of the regular 1 bar. “Can you hear me now?”

The USA will win Olympic gold for curling. Curling is shuffleboard played on ice. There are no curling team members from here.
