Good News, Bad News

Foiled again by Mother Nature, the middle of February and we are having days with high temperatures in the high 70’s.

Forget our normal winter garb of warm fleece ensembles, hats, gloves and scarfs in favor of clothing we wear approaching early summer. Oh, if course, we all know that weather is one of a handful things we have never figured out how to control.

As we were packing for a short trip to Charlotte, N.C. this past weekend, we thought we better bring out that winter wear. Charlotte is higher elevation with some hills.

When we stopped to refuel and replenish in South Carolina, folks were in tee shirts and shorts. It was summer instead of sweater weather. Even had to turn on the car air conditioner.

Turning North outside Columbia rain began to fall and so did the temperatures. The farther north we drove harder rain and drastic temperature drop, now in a matter of an hour, it’s 40 degrees. Guess we will need the winter stuff.

After hours of rain that night we awoke to bright sun and only a few clouds. Off with the coat, off with the sweater, it was a beautiful day.

Good thing these professional meteorologists make predictions, maybe they should use the terminology, “maybe or it’s 50-50”.

Regardless we found Charlotte to be a lot like Atlanta, restaurants serving food from around the world, friendly hotel staff and people at the hotel and events. There were many activities. As you will read in “CheapVacations” you would love taking a short trip there.
