Youth Compete at State Tech Event
On March 10, several students from Jasper County High School, Jasper County Middle School, and Washington Park Elementary School traveled to Middle Georgia State University in Macon to compete in the State Technology Competition.
JCHS senior Alina Jablonski won first place for a multimedia presentation in the grade level 11 and 12. She also received a scholarship for $250, which is awarded to the highest placing senior in each category. JCHS student Mari Jablonski placed third for a presentation in multimedia applications for grades 9 and 10. Also representing JCHS, Ciara Christopher placed third in the digital photography category for grades 11 and 12.
Only first place regional winners were invited to compete against students from across the state and the Jasper County School District was well represented.
In addition to the above mentioned winners, other competitors included Carter Pitts from the high school, Azure Guli, Kelsey Key, Donecia Mathews, Jennifer Callaway, Jakara Tobler, Ta’Kya Thompson, and Hannah Tinney from the middle school, and Zack Garvin, Hailey Hamblin, and Maylee Hamblin from the elementary school. Sponsors Jena Fowler, Mary Tumlin, and Matt Tumlin accompanied the students.
The event was hosted by the Georgia Educational Technology Consortium, Inc.
