Beautiful Weather
What a gift we got this year for Easter, a spectacular display of color, even the dogwoods were in full bloom at the same time, and to top off the day, a beautiful, sunny day for all those Easter egg hunts and family gatherings.
This week all eyes of the world will be on that little ole golf course over in Augusta. Eighty-four years ago was the first Masters, won by Horton Smith with a winning purse of $1,500. This year the winners’ purse is lots of green, 11 million dollars, just a few more zeros.
The winner of this tournament receives a “Masters Green” three button jacket with unique buttons that feature the logo for the tournament. How do they know the size of the winner? According to the official Masters website, they don’t tell you, but there are plenty of green jackets to go around. To get one you either have to be a member of the Club or win the Masters and you can’t take it home.
Will this be the year for the Atlanta Braves? If you can’t make it to their games, you can catch some games of maybe future Braves at the Jasper County Recreation Department. Saturday, April 7 is opening day for baseball and softball games. Don’t miss the local clubs, the Braves vs the Yankees and those dangerous Wee Ball teams, the Mud Cats vs the Bombers.
Come out and support the players and those volunteer coaches. Keep your fingers crossed for good weather.
