We Are Family

This past weekend our Fire Department family came together to BBQ 350+ chicken plates to raise support for one of own, Battalion Chief Alvin McMichael and his sweet bride Nancy.

As I’m sure you’ve seen in past articles as well as on the Macon news, they are in the fight of their lives. After 39 years of marriage and raising their family right here in Jasper, they have seen many ups and downs. But battling the cancer that has Nancy fighting has been a hard fight. Alvin and Nancy are part of the very fabric of this community and we stand with them in every way possible.

I along with our Fire/Rescue family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the many members of our community who helped make the Chick-N-Q a success! Terry and Cory McMichael, Maylon Wages, Turkey Holland, and Brad Selman who helped cook the meat.

The vast number of people who helped make desserts; from church groups, civic groups, friends and family! Ingles Markets in Monticello as well as our Dairy Queen who helped with containers, and Monticello Drugs who allowed us space on the square. Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and offered donations above and beyond!

That is what makes our county not just some farm land in the mid-Georgia, we are a community who rallies together when one of our own is hurting and needs friends and family to get through life’s trials. Alvin and Nancy, we are all praying for complete healing and know that God has His hand over your home and your hearts.

Stay safe Jasper!
