Black Friday
Black Friday was looming when this year we got Pre-Black Friday, then Black Friday Week which was extended into Extended Black Friday.
Gone was the sight on the news of eager shoppers pressing against the doors of the department stores or customers fighting over the two sale items actually available. What’s the use? Stores were touting sales for days. And with the internet, everyone could vie for the sale items.
The term, Black Friday, originally was supposed to be the first day retailers showed their books in the black, or on the positive side, as they lowered prices to bring ‘em in and encourage shoppers to buy their stock and take it home with them.
Monday of this week was once called Cyber Monday, but then Cyber Monday lasted until Wednesday. Surprise now it is Cyber Week.
Less than a month until the Big Day arrives when all your worries about whether that gift was the perfect gift will be answered. There is even a Santa Tracker cable channel showing the countdown days.
Remember to shop locally to support our local merchants and their employees.
