We Need You!
I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas celebration together as well as Hanukah, and Kwanza if your family celebrates them!
As we all make a fresh start into 2019 with its promise of new adventures, experiences, and challenges; may I suggest a new adventure for yourself or your family? Volunteering! Yes, YOUR community needs you!
Volunteering for your community Fire/Rescue service does not necessarily mean going into a burning building. What it does mean is responding when one of your neighbors needs help.
It means learning new skills such as ropes, knots, extrication, first aid, building construction, fire behavior, air supply for members going into a burning structure…and more!
And yes, how to fight fire if you’re ready for that challenge. Point is, we need you; even if you’re not fighting fire.
Our community’s families are jam-packed with work, sports, hunting, and extracurricular activities. I get it, our family is the same. But in the midst of life, your neighbors…maybe even yourself, will have an emergency that needs the response of volunteer firefighters and medical personnel.
While Jasper County does have four full-time staff each day that cover the county’s firetrucks and two ambulances, we need first responders. It is indeed part of living in such a rural environment.
So, I am asking you that as you read this, will you please consider joining us in protecting and serving this great county we live in and the community we are all a part of?
Applications to join are available at Station 3 next to the Primary School on Hwy 212. I can promise new friendships, a lifelong brotherhood/sisterhood, community pride, family pride in you, fun, and knowledge & skills in construction, fire behavior, machinery, tools, and more!

Have a very Happy New Year!!!!
