4 of the Most Beautiful Residential Streets in the U.S.
If you could live anywhere in the U.S., where would it be? Would you choose an area for its shops, the food, or the nature that surrounds it? What you see when you first open your eyes in the morning can impact your day as a whole—walking out to your porch with a mug of coffee in your hands and a host of charming scenery outside your door is what allows you to truly appreciate the finer aspects of life. With this in mind, we’ve collected a list of the most beautiful streets to live on in the U.S.
1. Neil Avenue
Victorian Village neighborhood, Columbus, Ohio
This stunning neighborhood features an array of breathtaking homes, many of them built over a century ago. Each of the Victorian Era houses boasts an aesthetically alluring structure framed by trees, creating a picture as beautiful as the ones featured in any museum. The neighborhood centers around Neil Avenue, along which a streetcar line was built in 1879 to connect downtown Columbus and The Ohio State University, spurring the area’s growth. Residents will also find themselves within walking distance of the ever-popular Goodale Park.
2. Usonia Road
Usonia Historic District, Pleasantville, New York
The Usonia Historic District—just an hour northeast of New York City—is perhaps the neighborhood that best exemplifies the artistic spirit of the state. This community was conceptualized by Frank Lloyd Wright, who designed three of the 47 midcentury homes in the area: the Sol Friedman House, the Edward Serlin House, and the Roland Reisley House. The latter stands on Usonia Road, the district’s main thoroughfare. The designs for the remaining 44 homes in the 100-acre neighborhood were approved by Wright himself and built by some of the most talented architects of that time. These homes exude personality and encourage individualism in residents.
3. Burling Street
Lincoln Park neighborhood, Chicago, Illinois
One of the most desirable streets in Chicago, Burling Street is for those who will accept nothing but the best in terms of luxury. In 2016, a home on the affluent street listed for $50 million, making it the most expensive home on the Chicago market at the time. These stunning mansions, with jaw-dropping staircases and enormous doorways, were created for those with a taste for the finer things in life.
4. Belgravia Court
St. James–Belgravia Historic District, Louisville, Kentucky
With the same hint of historical charm that one finds in Victorian Village, Belgravia Court is a hidden pocket in Louisville where homes and nature exist as one. The Victorian Era houses there are timeless, with history painting the inside and the outside of their walls. Gas lights cast a gentle glow on the streets—the final detail that makes Belgravia Court seem suspended in time.
