Looking Forward

Finally, we got a year that is simple to remember and write.

According to predictors, many weddings will take place on February 2 or February 20, an easy to remember anniversary for all, just remember a bunch of twos, 2/2/20 or 2/20/20. Sandals Resort reports they it has had a 15 percent increase for weddings on 2/20/20.

Another great combination for celebrations will be October 10, 10/10/20. Astrologers are enthusiastic about this year as the new decade begins and associates it with 1960 and the Age of Aquarius. This is also a leap year. If we did not have leap year every four years, February would be a summer month.

Decade years seem to bring optimism as we look forward to a new beginning.`1960’s were no exception. We elected the youngest President of the United States, age 43. A dance craze started by one song, “Let’s Do the Twist” song by Chubby Checker swept the nation after he did the dance on the national television show, “American Bandstand.”

That decade also saw the most popular car in history arrive, the Ford Mustang, selling for around $2,400, now estimated to be worth $350,000. The first Super Bowl was held in 1967, Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs. And a miracle to see, the first man walked on the moon. The 60’s was also a decade that saw much violence and assassinations.

Here are some predictions for Jasper County: Ok Boomers will be moving in as they reach retirement age. The new Eastern outer ring expressway will be built through here, named Interstate 475, starting in Macon.

Hemlines will go down to cover leggings and hopefully, men can button their suit coats that currently gap open. More electric cars on the streets. More drones by police take to the skies. More robotic housecleaning tools.

No one knows for sure what the 2020’s will bring. Life is like a box of candy.
