Happy Mother’s Day

Mothers, we all have one. They come in all sizes, ages, nationalities.

Some of us have natural mothers, others adopted mothers, again all kinds. Hopefully, you had a mother who nurtured you from birth, had patience to teach you how to do the essential skills in life, gave you time to develop your personality, gave you opportunities to be in clubs, sports, and with friends outside of school.

And even though she was of another generation, she tried desperately to understand your style in dressing, your music, and your school work.

My mother is 104 years old. She was born on the eve of World War I, came of age during the dark days of the Great Depression, was actually a Rosie, the Riveter, at an airplane factory during World War II, was born when Woodrow Wilson was President of the United States, has been around since the beginnings of home radio to cell phones, since black and white television to HDTV, oh, yeah, raised four kids who never spent a night in jail.

I once wrote a 20 page summary of her life and she said after reading it, “That woman had a very interesting life,” not realizing it was her own life. She raised a creative daughter, moi.

You missed the deadline to order this unique gift, KFC’s chicken buckquet, it’s finger lickin’ good. BTW, they sell nearly 400,000 buckets of chicken on Mothers Day.

Top three gifts for Moms on her day, greeting cards, flowers and gift cards. Most needed gifts, a vacation, air tags for her purse, keys, remote, cellphone, maybe kids, and a hug.

Also, today, May 5th, Cinco de Mayo, is a day to celebrate Mexican victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, not Mexico’s Independence Day.
