Taking Time To Enjoy the Journey
Graduation season is here! I can remember my graduation well. There were off and on storms most of the day, but the Lord provided us a window of opportunity that May evening, and the graduating class of 2003 was able to have their moment as graduates.
A few of my fellow classmates (no names will be included) thought it was a good idea to act a bit silly during the commencement ceremony and, from what I’ve been told, they’re the reason that graduate behavior has become a top priority. That said, graduates, please make sure you behave at your graduation ceremony. You are representing more than yourself, and this is the opportunity to recognize what you done, not make a mockery of it.
In praying for all the graduates, I cannot help but think about what this event symbolizes. Most think of it as the end of a journey when, this is more like the starting blocks. Life is going to change, friends are going to come and go, and you are going to be challenged in a way that you’ve never experienced before.
But fear not! You can do this! You’ve got the ultimate supporter pulling for you in Jesus Christ. His plan for your life is greater than your own plan. He has something great planned just for you. What you must do to see it through is take time to listen to Him, talk with Him, study His Word, and be obedient in the process. This is just the beginning for what He has planned for you.
Remember, this is just the beginning of His plan for you. Esther 4: 14 says, “Perhaps you were born for such a time as this.” Graduates and each one of us alike, let us not be too “strong-headed” to miss what the Lord is preparing us for. Maybe it is such a time as this.
Our journey, it starts with a relationship with Jesus. The starting block for our life with Him is accepting Christ as our Lord and Savior. When this next stage of life looks difficult, lean not on your own understanding. Paul tells us in the book of Romans that “all things work together for good” if God is involved.
Friends, trust can be difficult. But take comfort in knowing that the Creator of the universe is worthy of our trust. He proved so by making the ultimate sacrifice for us. Graduates, you are loved by so many. Trust in His promises and be ready for what HE has in store for you.
