Father’s Day/Men’s Day
St. Luke 18:1—Men ought to always pray and not be faint.
Proverbs 15:31, 31 says if you (me) profit from constructive criticism, you (me) will be elected to the wise men’s hall of fame. {But to reject criticism is to harm yourself and your own best interests.]
II Peter 4:14 says If you (me) are insulted for being a Christian, for then the Glorious Spirit of God will come upon us.
Proverbs 15:28 says, A good man thinks before he speaks; the evil man pours his evil words without a thought. Proverbs 16:2 says, We can always “prove” that we are right, but is the Lord convinced? V.5 Pride disgusts the Lord. Take my word for it. Proud men shall be punished. Before every man there lies a wide and pleasant road he thinks is right, but it ends in death. When a man is trying to please God, he makes even his worst enemies to be at peace with him.
V30. The wicked man stares into space with pursed lips, deep in thought, planning his evil deeds. Proverbs 18:1 says The selfish man quarrels against every sound principle of conduct by demanding his own way. V. 27, 28 The man of few words and settled mind is wise, therefore even a fool is thought to be wise when he is silent. It pays him to keep his mouth shut. V 23. The poor man pleads and the rich man answers with insults. A wise man restrains his anger, and overlooks insults. This is to his credit. Proverbs 18:2 says a rebel doesn’t care about the facts. All he wants to do is yell. V. 3 Sin brings disgrace. V.11 The rich man thinks of his wealth as an impregnable defense, a high wall of safety. What a dreamer! V. 14 A man’s courage can sustain his broken body, but when courage dies, what hope is left?
Father and Sons
Proverbs 14:4 says An empty stable says clean—but there is no income from an empty stable. V. 6 A mocker never finds the wisdom he claims he is looking for, yet it comes easily to the man with common sense. V. 7 says If you are looking for advice, stay away from fools. Only the good can give good advice. Rebels can’t.
A soft answer turns away wrath, but harsh words cause quarrels. Proverbs 15:4 says Gentle words cause life and health; griping and control bring discouragement.
V. 12 A mocker—Let say mean ridicule—disrespect joke, laughing stock. Says away from wise men because he hates to be scolded. Proverbs 15:27 says Dishonest money brings grief to all the family, but hating bribes brings happiness.
Teach a child to choose the right path, and when he is older he will remain upon it. V. 10 Throw out the mocker, and you will be rid of tension, the fighting and quarrels. And All say Amen, Amen Amen.
Proverbs 17:14 It’s hard to stop a quarrel once it starts, so don’t let it begin. I hope when these words of truth find you they will be of help to you.
