JCHS Students Perform Well at Regional Fair at Georgia College

Students from Jasper County High School (JCHS) competed in the Regional Science and Engineering Fair (RSEF) at Georgia College. Out of 11 projects nine projects were awarded invitations to compete at the upcoming Georgia Science & Engineering Fair (GSEF) in Athens.

Top awards were earned by Jamyrian Vinson and Bryson Jackson. The duo won the Best 10th Grade Project, U.S. Air Force Award, National Geographic Award ($100 prize), first place, and an invitation to compete at GSEF. The top winners are pictured with awards on the JCHS campus since Jamyrian is a basketball player and Bryson plays soccer and neither were able to attend the awards ceremony.

Leigh Perkins and Kayla Pulliam won the following awards: American Psychologist Association, first place and invitation to compete at GSEF. Rachel Carnes, Chantel Sanchez and Destiny Pete were awarded: USAID Science Champion Award, 1st place and an invitation to compete at the GSEF.

The following students were also awarded first place and invitations to compete at GSEF: Colbie Ramsey, Elizabeth Roberts, Roswell Goolsby, and Adelyn Walls.

The following students were awarded second place and invitations to compete at GSEF: Autumn George, Grace DeGarmo, Nevaeh Jackson, Chloe Key, Sarah Skinner, Rebekah Hanson, Abigail Garland, Christopher Sandvidge, and Yaretzi Tarim.

Third place JCHS students included: Carter Ellison, Lane Lackey, Clayton McCrae, and Emerson Cagle.

While at Georgia College, JCHS students enjoyed an afternoon of tours which included the planetarium, natural history floor in Herty Hall, the machine shop in the physics building, and a tour of the historic Governor’s Mansion.

Science fair coaches Elizabeth Proctor and Caleb Fontaine enjoyed the day with the students and commend all the students for their hard work in the pursuit of science.
