The Marks Of Movement Upon The Earth…
I was born and raised in a large cedar swamp in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. We were so poor that if the wolf woulda come to the front door of our tar paper shack we’da ate him. We depended on the swamp for a portion of our table fare. Hunting and fishing made up most of our Cedar Savage DNA.
I learned early that nothing, and I do mean, nothing, moves upon the face of the earth without leaving a mark. Nothing. Some of those marks, like the mark of a tornado, are obvious marks. Some like a butterfly fluttering along through the air leave only very hard to see marks but they are there none the less. From the very obvious to invisible to the unaided eye, everything that moves leaves a mark on the earth’s face.
Each and every mark points both forward and back, left and right, up and down and tells us something about the mark maker. By reading the marks we can see a mini story. The marks become the vehicle that truth rides on. Examination of the marks can tell which pathway the mark maker is on. We call the marks “tracks,” as in, “I wonder what track he’s following?” Tracking is the reading of those marks.
I watch every air accident investigation documentary I come across, not because I love the gore, but because I love how the investigators can look at so many tiny pieces of wreckage and conclusively tell how each piece, many hardly large enough to be held between thumb and forefinger, was related to the accident and the effect it had on the accident.
One investigation conclusively proved the accident was caused by a single rivet out of thousands. In another, a microscopic piece of DNA found on a small piece of metal conclusively proved a murder suicide.
I’ve seen quite a number of “Bigfoot” footprint photos, you know that large shaggy furtive man-shaped mythological forest creature? Every one I have ever examined was a stamp rather than an actual track. How do I know? There is no life in the tracks, whatever made the tracks was a mechanical up and down stamp completely lacking any pressure ridges to indicate any other directional movement.
Every single word in the Bible is a track, a mark. Each word tracks God’s moving across the face of the Earth and has a purpose. Your favorite Bible is not the actual Bible, it is a translation of original manuscripts. Some translations, versions, are much more reliable than others but they are all translations which the translators felt were the original meanings.
The Bible is the trail of man separating himself from his Creator and fruitlessly following his own path until he is hopelessly lost on the verge of death and needing to get back to the Creator to save his own life. In His movements over the Earth God has set marks to guide the man back to Him. Each mark tells the man which track, or path, to follow. John 14:6 says that way is Jesus. Each man has to follow Jesus back to the Father to live.
Jesus’ last recorded words on earth…
15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:15-16)
The gospel Jesus wanted preached is the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, I Corinthians 15:1-4. One must obey that gospel’s death, burial, and resurrection or suffer the vengeance of Jesus, II Thessalonians 1:7-8. Romans 6:3-7 tells us that is done in baptism. Acts 2:38 says why, remission of sins. That brings us back to Mark 16:15-16.
There is no example of anyone being saved by any kind or form of prayer after Jesus rose from the dead. It simply isn’t there. Every mark of salvation on the trail back to God is the direct result of Mark 16:15-16. Many are vainly trusting in a non-existent path back to fellowship with God.
Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; (II Peter 1:10)
