Schools Get Ready for New Year

The Primary School received a huge facelift this summer, with new windows, paint, floors, and lighting throughout the building. A step into it invites you to a clean, airy building, which will welcome the students and teachers very soon. There’s new kitchen equipment, tables, and more. There is no longer any carpet.
Contractors are supposed to complete their work this week, and teachers will return to the class next week.
On Tuesday, all new staff members met at the high school for the first day of orientation. They heard from Tasia Ellis, Director of CTAE, STEAM, and new teacher induction, and Supt. Kenny Garland, as well as many members of the central staff and all school principals and assistant principals
.
The Monticello News will publish a special section in next week’s newspaper with all things school! It will include bus routes, school supplies, new teacher photos and biographies, and more!
There are numerous new staff members, some replacing others and many of them new because of the growth in the schools. Enrollment is expected to be 2,700+ when school starts, with as many as 2,800 anticipated before fall is over.
Open Houses are slated for Tuesday, Aug. 8, with different times for different last names to keep it from being so terribly hectic. See the ad on page 10 for appropriate times.
Before orientation, the middle school will hold orientation for sixth graders on August 4, from 5 to 7 p.m.
