The Political Leads to the Prophetical

Introduction: Never in the history of the United States has a President been both indicted and convicted of a felony—34 to be exact!

Where is this going?

What are we to make of this Political Year?

Is our God in control?

Does He raise up and put down leaders? This devotion will explore some unchanging biblical truths that should bring peace and security to every Christian.

1) The Political leads to the Prophetical! (Dan 2:20-21)—”Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his… And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings.” Solomon wrote, “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will” (Proverbs 21:1). Clearly, while examining Kings of the past, Presidents, and world leaders, our Lord has demonstrated that He is in control of both good and bad leaders—all are working for His ultimate purpose; i.e. Israel’s kings, etc.

Besides that, even today, the world rulers are under His control: China’s leader—Xi Jinping, Russia’s leader—Vladimir Putin, America’s President—Joe Biden, and Iran’s President—Ebrahim Raisi (killed recently in a mysterious helicopter crash after “the butcher” launched over 300 missiles toward Israel for the first time in their history)—all of their hearts are in the Lord’s hand.

Do you remember the words of Moses concerning Israel found in Genesis 12:3-4? “And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

While it may look like things are spinning out of control, the big picture reveals our Lord Jesus is ruling, overruling, and ever-ruling! more about that next…

2) The Political leads to the Prophetical! (Daniel 7:13-14)—”And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.” Daniel, Paul, and the Angel Gabriel all foresaw Jesus Christ’s coming Kingdom (Government) that will rule the world.

“He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end” (Luke 1:32-33).

We are talking about the whole animal kingdom will change, “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed” (Isaiah 11:6-7). Imagine that! Moreover, the whole earth is now groaning while waiting for its transformation (Romans 8:22). Perfect peace and prosperity is on heaven’s horizon.

Conclusion: The case is made. God is in control. Why not let Him control your life? Is He on the throne of your heart? Not only did Jesus come to save us from our sins but also to promise to come back for us some day. Then we will experience His glory throughout the whole earth. So what else is there left to say but… “Even so come Lord Jesus”! “Thy Kingdom come.”
