Eli Nelson Is Winner in Short Films
Jasper County High School Film student Eli Nelson won $2,000 in the 2023 Hope Film Challenge. His 90-second original short film about anxiety will be aired this fall on Season 3 of the “Hope Givers,” an Emmy Award winning show on Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) for tweens and teens spotlighting hope and resilience across America.
Eli will also receive a copy of Blackmagic’s DaVinci Resolve, an industry-standard color grading, color correction, visual effects, and audio post-production video editing software. Eli’s film was screened in June at the Hope Film Challenge award ceremony at Altanta’s historic Plaza Theatre and will be available later this year at https://HopeGiversGA.org/hopegivers.
Fellow JCHS Film student Morgan Day was a semifinalist and Elliot Delestrez, a quarterfinalist, in the nationwide contest. All three student films were produced in the JCHS FIlm classes with shooting locations around the JCHS campus and Monticello.
