The Thrill Of Victory, The Agony Of Defeat

An old saying of a past Olympic announcer which still applies today. These thousands of athletes who are participating in this years Olympics have spent their lives, in some cases, working for this Olympics.

We are having more chances this year to see the various events. We also have a chance to see some new sports, breaking, for one.

Breaking is break dancing. This is the first Olympics for it and three other sports, skateboarding, sport climbing, and surfing. The surfing competition will take place in Tahiti which is a French Polynesia island, 9,777 miles from Paris.

The Opening Ceremony has been praised and criticized, but all would agree it was memorable. A couple of trips I have made to Paris I got to ride a bateau on the Seine just like the athletes, beautiful.
